EARTH DAYCELEBRATION

WHAT:             Midtown Global Market (MGM)will celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 16, 2011. 12:00 Noon - 4:00 PM

 

This year's theme is "Water," and guests can learnabout conserving water at several educational booths and activities.  MGM will also unveil its new rainbarrels, part of the MGM's "Green Team" efforts to make the Market moreeco-friendly.

 

Local non-profit Do it Green! Minnesota will also be hosting a variety ofactivities, including:

  • Make and take home your own non-toxic cleaner
  • Learn about your environmental "food print"
  • Interactive children programs, including an "Eco Twister" game

 

Guests can also pick up a homewater savings checklist at the Do it Green! Resource Center, located in MGM.

 

Entries in the 2nd Annual MGM RecycledArt Fair will also be on display.  Allentries must be made of at least 75% recycled materials.  Prizes will be awarded for first,second and third place and all artwork will be on display through May 15.

 

Other Earth Day activitiesinclude:

  • Sustainable cooking demonstrations by the chefs at MGM's Kitchen in the Market
  • Art Car display outside Lake Street entrance
  • Demonstrations from the Center for Energy and Environment
  • Information from Hennepin County Environmental Services
  • A special environmental puppet performance from Tricia and the Toonies from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m.
