Hennepin County provides information on reducing, reusing and recycling. We operate two drop-off facilities for recyclables and household hazardous waste. In addition, we encourage residents to compost, conserve energy, incorporate sustainable landscaping practices and improve water quality.

Land Stewardship Project is a grassroots organization made up of farmers and rural and urban residents working to secure a healthful food supply; preserve soil, water and wildlife; support diversified, family-sized farms; and hold corporations and government accountable.

Preventing Harm Minnesota is a non-profit Children's Environmental Health organization. We provide educational presentations, informational resources, advocacy and partnership opportunities focused on reducing exposure to harmful toxic chemicals found in air, water, food and everyday products. We work with communities of all shapes and sizes - parents, neighborhood associations, ethnic communities, faith-based organizations, et al.

RethinkRecycling.com is your go-to guide for waste & recycling in the Twin Cities. The purpose of the campaign is to help citizens living in the six-county Twin Cities metro area (the counties of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey and Washington) understand the urgent need to make environmentally responsible purchasing and disposal decisions in their daily lives. By giving citizens the information needed to make these decisions, we can reverse the ever-growing waste stream and protect the environmental health of the six-county Twin Cities metro area.

The Blue Thumb - Planting for Clean Water™ program assists others in doing their part to protect water quality by offering how-to's, blueprints, retailers, workshops, grants and more for installing native gardens, rain gardens and shorelines.

In fifteen years, the Green Institute has grown from its roots as a neighborhood-based environmental justice movement to one of the state's leading non-profit groups focusing on projects and practical innovations that simultaneously improve our community and the environment. The Green Institute is home to a broad range of programs and initiatives, which include: ReUse Center and DeConstruction Services, Green Building, Community Energy and Consulting Services.
