Eco Education connects students to their urban environment and provides knowledge and skills to address environmental issues of interest to the students, in their school neighborhood. Eco Education works in Twin Cities schools and the 9 county metro area. Eco Education programs include teacher professional development/support, speakers network, and in-depth, student-directed, service learning programs.
Hennepin County provides information on reducing, reusing and recycling. We operate two drop-off facilities for recyclables and household hazardous waste. In addition, we encourage residents to compost, conserve energy, incorporate sustainable landscaping practices and improve water quality.
The Minnesota Renewable Energy Society (MRES) is a member-run, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in Minneapolis in 1978 to promote the use of and advocacy for renewable energies in Minnesota through education and demonstration of practical applications. MRES is involved with education, awareness, and advocacy efforts for all forms of renewable energy technologies, with a particular emphasis on solar energy technologies.
