Eco Day Camp

In an effort to raise awareness about waste reduction issues, the Carver County Historical Society (CCHS), offers eco-history day camps to train students in grades 3-5 to educate their peers regarding environmental issues. Students discover what they can do to keep the environment healthy, learn about eco-history through trips, speakers, and hands-on activities, explore the past through oral history, and help create an exhibit for the Carver County Fair!  Campers take field trips to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, the Carver County Environmental Center, and Carver County's enormous compost pile!

Camps will run in June and July 2009 and will be held at four different locations throughout Carver County. Those interested in attending the summer day camp should contact Erin Anderson of CCHS at education@co.carver.mn.us for application materials.

TEACHERS!  A FREE teacher workshop is available on August 14, 2009 from 10am-3pm.  It is open to the first 20 teachers that register at education@co.carver.mn.us.  Learn about incorporating eco-history into your classroom, resources available from the Carver County Historical Society, and receive a free copy of The Wartville Wizard by Don Madden.
